Certification Week for Partners

Augus 23-27, 2021 is Certification Week for Partners. This free (yes free!) training event is for partners who demonstrate their skills on the job every day and are ready to take the next step toward validating their expertise with a Microsoft certification. There are twelve tracks available for partners to sign up for. Though partners can only register for one track, they may attend sessions across all.

Windows 365 now available for purchase

Microsoft is excited to announce that Windows 365 is now available for customers to purchase. Windows 365 is a cloud service that delivers a new way to experience Windows 10 or Windows 11, streaming your personalized apps, settings, and content from the Microsoft cloud to any device.

Changes to Azure offer availability related to the new commerce experience in CSP for Azure

In January, we informed partners about upcoming changes to the previous Azure offer availability in the CSP program. See also January 2021 announcements for the January announcement details.

We announced that there will be three phases of change to the previous Azure offer, and we’ll inform partners six months in advance before the start date of each of these three phases.

As announced in January, the start date for phase 1 was July 21, 2021. We’re also announcing that the start date of phase 2 will be February 1, 2022.

Enhancement of tool for transfer of Azure subscriptions between partners in the Cloud Solution Provider (CSP Program)

Starting July 21, 2021, the existing Azure subscription transition tool was enhanced so that a customer’s previous Azure offer in CSP subscriptions can transfer between partners while transitioning those subscriptions to the new Azure offer plan. The tool and process that partners need to take will remain the same as the partner-to-partner new Azure offer plan transfers. Find detailed information in the partner guide.

New commerce experience in CSP for Azure expanding to Government Community Cloud (GCC)

Starting August 24, 2021, we’re excited to announce the availability of the new commerce experience in CSP for Azure to all GCC partners. This experience will streamline and improve the way customers buy and consume Azure services. It will also give partners in the CSP program a consistent view of Azure pricing across sales motions, US dollar pricing for global consistency, billing date alignment, and access to Azure Cost Management. We also have a functionality on Partner Center that helps CSP partners move customers from existing CSP Azure offers to Azure services under the Azure plan.

Programmatic access to Partner Insights analytics data

Partners in Partner Center Insights can have access to the data either through the user interface or through the downloadable reports. With programmatic access, partners will have the flexibility to consume the data using existing tools and prepare a custom dashboard for users or employees within the organization.

Advancing Azure Virtual Machine availability transparency

The existing Azure resource health feature helps you to diagnose and get support for service problems that affect your Azure resources. It reports on the current and past health of your resources, showing any time ranges that each of your resources have been unavailable. Azure Database for MySQL – Flexible Server: Same-zone high availability in public preview

Azure Database for MySQL – Flexible Server gives you the ability to choose your high availability server zone location. The same-zone high availability feature can place your standby server in the same zone as the primary server to reduce replication lag between primary and standby. This also allows lower latencies between the application server and database server if placed in the same Azure zone.

Azure Database for MySQL – Flexible Server public preview is now available in the West US and Germany West Central regions. Now you can enjoy a simplified provisioning experience in these regions with experience such as: 

  • Optimized lower total cost of ownership (TCO) with burstable SKU 
  • Access to the stop/start feature
  • Access to the storage auto grow feature
  • More control with scheduled maintenance 
  • Access to the same-zone high availability feature
  • Enterprise security with virtual network isolation and data encryption

Private DNS zone integration for Azure Database for PostgreSQL – Flexible Server in public preview

With the integration of private DNS zone configuration within Azure Database for PostgreSQL – Flexible Server, you can easily establish connectivity between two Azure Database for PostgreSQL – Flexible Servers or from customer applications using a flexible server name (fully qualified domain name) within locally and globally peered virtual networks.

While creating a new Azure Database for PostgreSQL – Flexible Server in a virtual network, you can also use an existing private DNS zone or create a new one. This allows you to leverage existing secure Azure infrastructure to connect to an Azure Database for PostgreSQL – Flexible Server.

Azure Database for PostgreSQL – Hyperscale (Citus) support for PostgreSQL versions 13.3 and 12.7 in public preview

Azure Database for PostgreSQL – Hyperscale (Citus) now supports the latest PostgreSQL minor versions 13.3 and 12.7 in preview. These PostgreSQL versions deliver various bug fixes and security updates. Please note that your servers will be automatically updated to these new minor versions as a part of regular maintenance.

Public preview of Azure Database for PostgreSQL – Flexible Server now offers reserved instance pricing

Azure Database for PostgreSQL – Flexible Server can now help you save money by prepaying for compute resources compared to pay-as-you-go pricing. With Azure Database for PostgreSQL reserved capacity, you can make an upfront commitment on Azure Database for PostgreSQL – Flexible Server for a one- or three-year period to receive a significant discount on compute costs. To purchase Azure Database for PostgreSQL reserved capacity, you simply need to specify the Azure region, deployment type, performance tier, and term.

2021 Release Wave 2

Mid-July was published the 2021 release wave 2 plans for Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Microsoft Power Platform, a compilation of new capabilities that are planned to be released between October 2021 and March 2022. This second release wave of the year offers hundreds of new features and enhancements, demonstrating our continued investment to power digital transformation for our customers and partners.

Power Apps Pricing & Licensing

The following Power Apps licensing changes will go into effect on October 1, 2021:

  • The Power Apps per user plan will be priced at $20 per user/month
  • The Power Apps per app plan will be priced at $5 per user/app/month

In the interim prior to October 1, availability of the Power Apps limited time, promotional offers are being extended

Lastly, we also recently made Power Apps portals login capacity available at a reduced price for eligible customers purchasing large volumes of sessions

Beginning July and running through September 30, eligible customers interested in taking advantage of reduced pricing can select from these promotional offers: The Power Apps per user and per app plans are currently available for $12 per user/month (minimum purchase of 5,000 licenses) and $3 per user/app/month (minimum purchase of 200 licenses), respectively. Offer availability and other conditions may apply.

Microsoft Partner Network Competencies Update

Over the past year, many businesses and organizations around the globe have accelerated their digital transformation plans and Microsoft partners have been at the forefront, helping them by delivering innovative solutions through services, apps, and devices.

Partner Contribution Indicators (PCI) scoring took effect on April 1, 2021. If your anniversary date for the Cloud Business Applications competency is between July 1 and December 31, 2021, you will be granted the 15 points for the Functional Consultant Growth metric, and this update will be reflected in the July reporting refresh in Partner Center. You will need to meet the remaining requirements as published in Partner Center and pay the competency fee to complete your renewal. Learn more about Partner Contribution Indicators.

For partners with a competency anniversary date between July 1 and December 21, 2021, information to extend your competency will start to appear in Partner Center today. It will take a few days to rollout to all partners and should be completed by July 27, 2021. At that time, if you are unable to renew in Partner Center, please contact partner support for assistance.
