National Museum of Taiwan Literature announces online game ‘1940’
Do you like going to museums, or would you rather stay at home and play video
games?

 

台灣國家文學館宣佈網路遊戲「1940」，你喜歡去博物館，還是寧願呆在家裡玩電子遊戲？

Well, pretty soon you might be able to do both at the same time!
The National Museum of Taiwan Literature is planning to release a video game
called “1940” to get young people more interested in Taiwan’s history.
國立台灣文學館準備推出一個電動遊戲，叫做【1940】，好讓更多年輕人來對台灣歷史產生興趣。
The game was inspired by a real person named Liu Na’ou (劉吶鷗), a Taiwanese
writer who was killed in Shanghai in 1940.
And the game’s story follows a person far in the future, in the year 2079,

who is searching for more information about Liu’s death.
This new character can find magic mahjong tiles in many famous places in
China and Taiwan, which can help him change the past and rewrite history.
這個遊戲的主角可以在中國和台灣很多著名地點找到有魔力的麻將牌，用它來改變過去。

The people making the game say they want to help Taiwanese people learn more
about their own literature and history, in a fun and interactive way.
Something that is interactive (互動的) can be more interesting because it
keeps people thinking about what will happen next.
And the National Museum of Taiwan Literature says the game will be available
to play online next year!

Numerous Australian Animals Glow Under UV Light
Scientists in Australia have learned something very strange about some
Australian animals.

 

澳大利亞科學家學到了一些很奇怪的澳大利亞動物

Some of them can glow in the dark!
有些澳洲動物會在黑暗中發光！
To see this, scientists had to use something called Ultra-Violet light
(紫外線), also called UV light, which is a special kind of light that our
eyes can’t see.
When they shined UV light on an Australian animal called the platypus
(鴨嘴獸), they found that it turns a bright greenish-blue color!
They were very surprised at this discovery, so they kept testing more animals.
And they learned that other animals like possums, wombats, and echidnas also
turn UV light into colors that we can see.

So, why do they glow?
Well, even when there is no UV light, these animals can see each other glow,
and this helps them find each other in the dark.
But all of these animals are “prey”, which means other animals will hunt them
and eat them.

Luckily, many hunting animals are colorblind (色盲), so they can’t see the
prey glow these special colors, and the prey animals are much safer.
There are still many other colors of light we can’t see; every animal sees
the world very differently!

Channing Tatum to Star in Monster Movie
Actor Channing Tatum is taking on a new movie role.
He is set to star in the next reboot of one of Universal Studio’s classic
movie monsters.
Despite it being a monster movie, Channing’s film shouldn’t be scary.

Tongue-in-cheek is an expression that means not serious, or humorous.
We still don’t know which movie monster Channing will be facing off against.
Over the past several years, there have been reboots featuring Frankenstein,
The Mummy, Dracula, and The Invisible Man.
The new project will be directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, whom Channing
worked with on 21 Jump Street.
